Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ability to demonstrate appropriate demeanor, technical accuracy, efficiency, and conformity to Company policies. Serves as a role model for representing PGTI in a professional manner by wearing appropriate attire and demonstrating a strong work ethic.

Maintains contacts with internal departments at all PGTI manufacturing locations, such as Service, Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, Quality etc. to ensure communication is shared with appropriate departments regarding product performance and field test results in an effort to improve PGTI and its product offerings and service.

Communicates extensively with all pertinent parties in order to determine test specifications, pre-test results, procedures, objectives, necessary test equipment, labor and timelines. Reviews documents, such as blueprints, to determine test requirements and best testing procedures. Facilitates project testing review sessions and communicates project status to supervisor, coworkers and management. Ensures testing meets specified protocol.

On assignments as Lead Technician coordinates all resources and schedules for field water tests conducted by PGTI, including equipment and personnel. Develops project timelines and periodically reviews with management. Manages time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently, ensuring maximum productivity of the team.

Will be acting PGTI representation at field water tests conducted by third parties to ensure accuracy and appropriate interpretations of results.

Documents and completes test reports on a timely basis and communicates and files this information with all appropriate parties.

Coordinates and maintain files, reports, communications, letters and documents relating to field water testing.

Recommends course of action based on results of PGTI or third-party water testing. Handles escalated determinations and client communications concerning product and testing issues. Makes decisions on site if appropriate. Works closely with Field Service leaders to coordinate necessary remedial work of PGTI products based on testing results and customer needs. Communicates with PGTI general counsel and 3rd party counsel regarding projects that may result in litigation, providing documentation and details that fully depict the project, installation errors and omissions, construction errors and omissions, and root cause/forensic analysis

Monitors PGTI Field Water Testing equipment to ensure that all equipment conforms to testing standards and bi-annual calibration is certified. Demonstrates exemplary quality awareness; showing concern for all aspects of the job, accurately checking processes and tasks with thorough follow-up and a "Right-The-First Time" attitude.

Works closely with Certification Test Lab to ensure consistency of test criteria, procedures, product make-up and configuration, and changes to certification process and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Good Driving Record, able to meet PGTI's requirements

Working knowledge and experience with software applications including Excel, Word, FieldPro, AS400, and Outlook E-Mail.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Extensive knowledge of PGTI products.

Extensive knowledge of Field Testing Standards and Protocol. (AAMA, ASTM, Dade County etc.)

Extensive knowledge Certification standards and procedures. (AAMA, ASTM, Dade County etc.)

Experience in manufacturing and repair of windows and doors.

Certification or ability to attain certification in Arial Lift Operation.

Strong knowledge of the safe use of hand and power tools.

Fenestration testing experience preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Forklift Certification

Good understanding of basic business procedures, practices, and policies.

Good conflict resolution skills.

Computer skills / Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, AutoCAD, Field Pro and Power Point

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Excellent communication skills. Must communicate effectively and courteously with all internal and external customers in written, verbal, and electronic modes.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Ability to determine field installation and/or product water infiltration problems.

Ability to visualize completed products. Ability to diagnose complex problems and develop solutions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Physical demands, such as operating hand tools, power tools, and driving for extended periods of time. Must be able to consistently lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift in excess of 100 pounds.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work in an un-climatized environment (such as construction sites and outdoors). Must have ability to maneuver safely following OSHA protocol on active construction sites. Work in private customers' homes (occupied and unoccupied). Frequent overnight out-of-town travel required and is expected to work the hours necessary to complete projects.

Physical presence in workplace required.
